Lisa’s wealth of knowledge and expertise gained over a decade of hiking trails around the world, leading and preparing teams for treks and directing large scale outdoor events, means she understands what walkers want out of an outdoor experience, and what is needed by the service providers and trail management companies to provide world class experiences for hikers. As an Adventure Consultant, Lisa seeks to understand the experience of walking a specific trail, or taking part in an organised hike – the needs of the participants, risk management, the sustainability and longevity of services for the provider, wellbeing for all involved, and of course care of the natural environment.
Q10: In July 2019 Lisa Marshall and Luke Edwards set out to explore the 10 Great Walks of Queensland in 10 Days, an initiative sponsored by Queensland National Parks and The National Trust of Australia, Queensland. From Currumbin to Cooktown, the team of 6, comprising of the two hikers, a film crew and drivers, in two Apollo Campervans, covered 4000kms by vehicle and 250kms on foot to experience and record the highlights of the Great Walks. Lisa and Luke interviewed Rangers at each destination, compiled the “what you need to know” for each trail and created videos for each trail which will help walkers to understand what is involved and what to expect on each Great Walk.
